I hate exercise

I hate exercise…. I do it’s true…

I hated PE and sports day at school where you were made to feel inferior by the people that easily excelled in sports and teachers.

I used to hide in the changing rooms so I didn’t have to go to a PE class, after doing it for a very long time the teacher came in and caught me and asked if I was a new girl because he had never seen me before. 😂

I don’t exercise so much because I love doing it. Some days it’s hard to get the motivation to do it.

I’ve drove to the gym many times sat outside and then drove back home without even going in.

I’ve even put my sports clothes on all day telling myself I will do something today and done nothing all day.

I exercise because of how I feel after or half way through a workout.

I exercise because the feeling I get if I don’t do it! Is much worse than the feeling of actually finally getting my arse in gear and doing it.

It really is momentum the more you do it the more you want to do it for the after effects.

If I don’t exercise I get depressed I turn into a moody bitch. My energy levels disappear. My clothes feel uncomfortable on me and then I start with destructive habits like comfort eating and feeling dirty for myself.

It’s a crazy cycle and unless you get off and drag yourself to do some exercise regularly it’s w really really hard cycle to break trust me I know first hand.

Also finding the exercise you like and that your body responds to is vital.

I detest cardio I always have. I can’t run for a bus my boobs are too big plus it gives me adrenaline fatigue as it’s releases to much cortisol in my body. I could run all day everyday and my body shape wouldn’t changed I’d probably end up putting on weight and getting lots of acne.

Plus the thought of doing a insanity or joe wicks workout brings me out in hives. My co ordination is non existent, so I wouldn’t put myself though that stress to make me feel shit about myself. It’s all about being kind to yourself not killing yourself. Plus I’d probably brake my ankle 😂

The days I didn’t know anything about exercise and I would go to the gym do 15 minutes on the cross trainer 10 minutes on the bike 15 on the step machine. Honestly don’t waste to your time it’s pointless.

Get yourself a trainer invest in some sessions let them know what you like what you hate and they will help you enormously. They will make you accountable. You have to show up when your paying and trust me you do.

Plus if you think I can’t afford it you can! Honestly short term pay outs benefit your whole life. Not all trainers cost £100 a hour either. I used to block book sessions to get me started.

This way you build confidence and then sometimes you can go it alone armed with information.

Weights are my thing, I’m a spin instructor so that’s my High intensity workout and I can go at my own speed and I love yoga 🧘‍♀️

It’s important when looking at your exercise Routine that you incorporate a yin and yang ☯️ type basis. So yin is more restorative and softer on the body and yang is more intense. You body and mind needs both to thrive.

Plus don’t give up after one go. My first yoga class I tried I walked out after 15 minutes and didn’t try it again for a few years later now I am training to be a yoga teacher.

Remember lots of things are at play with exercise age, hormones, genetics, mental ability. So it’s not one thing fits all. We are all different.

Plus the exercise I do now at forty one is completely different to the level I used to train in my twenties.

Remember also you can’t exercise your way out of a bad diet. If your food isn’t relatively healthy you won’t get the results your looking for.

Just don’t give up keep going keep trying new things until you find your thing! ❤️
